NEW FARMING TACTICS
Now that Recluse's Victory has been nerfed to
the point that ironcially the only people who farm there are afk commercial
bots, Dollmistress recommends taking on Borea's Rikti and focusing on the
pesky Rikti Portals for a good XP and cash fix.
The portals summoned by Communications
Officers are worth the same infamy as an RV Turret, and are a LOT easier to
kill. There's no danger of a Hero ganking you in the head, either!
On Vicious difficulty, a level 50 villain can
rake in between 200-450K per mission - almost as fast as hunting mobs and
pillboxes in RV!
BIRDY RETURNS!
Phoenix Storm reappeared today as part of the
"free account reactivation for bored players" programme. Not having
visited the Rogue Isles for almost a year, she was very surprised at many of
the serious changes.
Hopefully this time Birdy will make it to
level 50!

SERVER TRANSFERS!
Are on the way. Kinda. Nearly. The Devs have
been a bit cagey (as always) about timescales and details, but pretty soon
villains will be able to come and go between Servers for $10.
It is recommended that you create a copy of
your leaving villain as soon as possible after you exit your home Server, to
prevent someone stealing your old name while you are off on a tour!
CAP SF AWARENESS!
TOP SECRET OH NOES - The Cap Au Diable Strike
Force is a little bit easier to solo than other Strike Forces across the Rogue
Isles, and people are taking advantage of this with multiple accounts,
repeated completions and all sorts of wacky madness to secure the rare recipes
they require.
The more greedy villains are even using the
"exploit" to make themselves tonnes of money.
Dollmistress X is now fully re-slotted with
Invention Enhancements (52 set bonuses yay!) and will be running these cheater
Cap SF missions once a day at least. Look out for invites for a free rare
recipe!
DOLLMISTRESS STANDS DOWN
Having completed her term of office as Vice
Mayor of Champion, Dollmistress has been demoted to Defence Secretary and
Demoniker is now Vice Mayor. Silver Wing is the new Mayor - keeping it
villainous!

INVASION ENCORE

The war might be won, but there are many
aftershocks to such a huge interdimensional campaign and many Rikti factions
still have no idea the cause they were fighting for is now lost.
In other words, there will be 24-hour minor
Rikti invasions hitting the Rogue Isles up until mid-September. The exact
dates as as follows -
Tuesday, August 14th
Saturday, August 18th
Thursday, August 23rd
Sunday, August 26th
Friday, August 31st
Sunday, September 2nd
Wednesday, September 12th
Saturday, September 15th
Monday, September 17th
Saturday, September 22nd
Invasions occur every 3-4 hours - grab your
Elusive Mind Accolades while you still can!
RECLUSE'S VICTORY - THE PARTY IS OVER!
Yep, the end of the line. In a bid to thwart
evil afk and commercial gold farming in RV, the Devs have totally nerfed
Heavies. They cannot be speed-boosted much now, and cannot regenrate lost hit
points in any way.
This basically means they die really really
fast and are useless for taking Pillboxes or fighting signature
characters.

VICTORY FOR HUMANITY!
The war is now over, thanks to combined
forces of Heroes and Villains finally exposing Nemesis for the silly gold
robot he really is. The Rikti have retreated from across the Rogue Islands but
have left behind a large number of ill-informed idiots in the Warzone for
villains to laugh at, and promised to return once every now and then for
invasion re-enactment!

THE SCOURGE RETURNS
Twixt has been spotted in Recluse's Victory,
back to his usual griefing ways.
BEWARE!

HERO 1 DEFEATED
Today members of the Faux Pas led an assault
beneath the crashed Rikti Mothership to prevent further escalation of the
warfare and dispose of "Honoree", the former Vanguard leader Hero 1
Apparently, the entire interdimensional
confrontation is all a big mistake anyway, caused by the mischeivous
supervillain Nemesis. Statesman has demanded a written apology from the
formerly-infallible brass automaton to make up for the billions of deaths he
has caused on both sides.

CHEAP AND CHEERFUL
Costume Recipes are FINALLY cheap enough for
everyone to buy, now being placed in their own drop pool. Villains should be
able to purchase them for as little as 400K Infamy now!
Beware however, for other rare items such as
level 50 Numina Enhancements or high level Arcane salvage are growing more
expensive by the day! Buy now or suffer later!
|
|
24th July 2007
Faux Pas have installed a Teleporter to the
Rikti Warzone as part of the newly-constructed Warzone Wing of our
Headquarters!
A similar Teleporter will be added to the
Elite base and Haven Hero base asap, when Sinder Block gets round to doing so!
In other news, Dollmistress was rescued from
the Rikti Mothership during the first pylon raid of Issue 10 and is now at
large once again. She does seem to be a little more Rikti-like though. Tee hee!

24th July 2007
THEY ARE HERE!
Yay finally! The Rikti have invaded! Issue 10
has arrived!
DETAILED NOTES
Rikti World Invasion: The Rikti have been fought off before. But now, prepare for a desperate battle to save Earth from the new Rikti Invasion Force! Aggressive Rikti forces can attack Paragon City and Rogue Isle areas at any time and with little warning!
Rikti War Zone: Heroes and villains are asked to put aside their differences and co-operate to assist Vanguard, the all volunteer force funded by the United Nations Security Council, to stem the flood of Rikti and their attempts to salvage their downed Mother Ship. Earn Vanguard Merits to obtain new costume items and other cool stuff!
Rikti Co-op Task Force: Lady Grey, leader of Vanguard, has a series of missions for a proven team of superpowered individuals, security clearance 45 to 50, designed to take the fight to heart of the Rikti Invasion!
INVASION!
“The Rikti Return! The Vanguard needs YOU! All super powered beings are encouraged to join the effort! This isn’t about your history, but about OUR future. Join now.”
* The Rikti have somehow found a way to bridge the dimensional gap between their world and ours once again and are staging raids on Paragon City and the Rogue Isles.
* When Zones within the cities are under attack, a world-wide alert will be issued by Vanguard. This alert will show up in your Chat window, warning you in which zone attack is imminent.
* While the invasion is occurring, players do not receive debt while outdoors in an invaded zone.
* Those in that zone that do not wish to be at risk of Rikti attack are asked to take shelter immediately. They can do so by leaving the zone, or moving inside buildings or under cover (overpasses, parking garages, etc.).
* Rikti bombs appear to be unstable and not 100% reliable. Some do not explode on impact and only embed themselves in the ground. These bombs have been noted to detonate after a time, so take caution when you see these. They can be disarmed or delayed by inflicting damage upon them.
Revamped Zone: Rikti Crash Site is now Rikti War Zone
The region previously known as the Crash Site has erupted into a War Zone! All non-combatants are advised to stay well clear of the area!
This zone is now co-operative, Heroes and Villains can both enter into the zone and team together while here. Heroes and Villains cannot fight against each other in this area. They will both arrive into the zone in the Vanguard Base that has been established there.
Entry points can be found in Vanguard Bases in the following zones:
* Paragon City:
o Atlas Park
o Founders Falls
o Peregrine Island
* Rogue Isles:
o Cap au Diable
o St. Martial
o Grandville
The SWAT entrance from Crey’s Folly is sealed.
* The zone is now scaled for levels 35 to 50.
* While in the Rikti War Zone, debt obtained will be 50% of normal.
* When you enter the zone, Levantera, one of the directors of Vanguard, will be auto-issued to you as a contact. Complete her missions to get a feel for the area, as well as be inducted as an honorary member of Vanguard and be able to obtain merits.
* Borea has repeatable missions for you in the Rikti War Zone.
* Other characters that have missions available are Gaussian, Dark Watcher, and Serpent Drummer. They can all be found in the Vanguard Base
* By joining Vanguard you will earn Vanguard Merits for defeating Rikti as well as completing missions for Vanguard. These Merits can be exchanged for Costume Pieces (of the Vanguard Armor), as well as some other cool stuff. The device for purchasing these items are special crafting tables located within the Vanguard base. Vanguard Merits can not be used at other crafting tables.
* You can view Vanguard Merits earned from the Salvage window under the Special Tab.
Rikti Co-op Task Force:
The UNSC backs Vanguard for billions. With the second Rikti invasion bearing down upon us, the United Nations Security Council has essentially given Vanguard a blank check to cover the costs of fighting the
Rikti, “We don’t have time to haggle over budgets,” says a senior level official in the
UNSC. “Vanguard has always been about defeating the Rikti, no matter what. We fully support Lady Grey and her team.”
* Lady Grey gives out a Strike/Task Force for 8 super powered individuals with security clearance from 45 to 50. The mission attempts to stop the Rikti before they can get a foothold in our dimension. Be wary, the Rikti are single-minded in the pursuit of their objectives!
Take the fight to the crashed Rikti ship!
* The Rikti have erected energy pylons throughout the area surrounding their crashed ship in the Rikti War Zone. Vanguard engineers have discovered a way to detect Rikti Pylons. To view waypoints to these pylons, check the ‘Special’ option in your map display window.
* Destroying all pylons before the Rikti can replace them, will lower the shield on the Rikti Mother Ship in the zone.
* Heroes and Villains are asked to plant explosives inside the ventilation systems of the ship to cripple the Mother Ship repair effort the Rikti have in progress.
* Once enough bombs are planted, the Master at Arms will arrive to clear out
non-Rikti interlopers!
* Characters that participate with this will be rewarded with Vanguard Merits.
Rikti Villain Group Revamp
* The Rikti Villain group has undergone an art and powers revamp.
* The new art vastly upgrades the look of the Rikti and now allows us to use more animations with the Rikti soldiers.
* One major change is the Rikti swords now have a ranged energy weapon in them, allowing them to use both melee and ranged attacks without switching weapons.
Powers
Added support for villain archtypes for Kheldian inherent bonus powers. Here is the new help text:
* Kheldians naturally thrive off the energy and essence of their teammates. Warshades’ absorbing nature allows them to draw on the power of their teammates’ power to increase their own. Your Damage Resistance will increase for each nearby Tanker, Mastermind, Corruptor or Defender teammate. Your Damage will increase for each nearby Scrapper, Stalker, Brute or Blaster teammate. Finally each nearby Controller or Dominator teammate will grant you limited Protection from Control effects. You cannot put Enhancements in this power.
* Kheldians naturally thrive off the energy and essence of their teammates. Peacebringers’ metamorphic nature allows them to bring balance to their team. Your Damage will increase for each nearby Tanker, Mastermind, Corruptor or Defender teammate. Your Damage Resistance will increase for each nearby Scrapper, Brute, Stalker or Blaster teammate. Finally each nearby Controller or Dominator teammate will grant you limited Protection from Control effects. You cannot put Enhancements in this power.
* Jack Frost pets and Animated Stone pets should be more willing to engage in melee combat due to a change to their AI values.
* Crey Juggernauts will turn off their Personal Force Field after 15 seconds rather than leaving it on indefinitely.
* Bitter Ice Freeze Ray’s attack time has been shortened from 3.7 seconds to 2.5 seconds for both Blasters and Corruptors.
Critter Powers
* Critters with area of effect Confuse powers have had the duration of those powers greatly reduced.
Power Effects
* Graphical Effects for Ice Armor powers have been modified to improve performance by reducing redundant effects.

* Minor camera shake added to some Super Strength hit effects.
* New Geometry and effects for the Blackwand temporary/veteran power.
* New graphical effects for Sonic Resonance.

Costumes
* New “Stealth” costume set available
* New “Exo Proto” costume set available
* New Vanguard costume set available for purchase with merits
* 39 month Veteran Reward added: Boxing costume items

Supergroup Bases
* There are now teleport beacons that can be obtained to travel to the Rikti War Zone.

SANTA REDISCOVERED!
Today was a rather bizarre day in Cap Au
Diable, with honoured City of Villains ancestor "Santa Claws"
returning to visit and discover what changes have occured to the Rogue Isles
since his last visit.
Santa was last seen here back in February
2006, when he taught Dollmistress and Dr. Evermind a little about how to fight
Carnies and aided us with defeating Bahpomet for a fun badge. He then
disappeared as the snow melted, and no one ever expected to see him again!
Beware villains, no-pants Santa has come back
to town!

AN ISSUE 10 UPDATE
So villains...Issue 10 is on
the way, with some new fun activities and terrifying invasions about to launch
across the Rogue Isles.
But what exactly is there to
do? Here's a quick-and-evil guide...
ISSUE 10 for Dummies
1) Briefly notice that Sonic
and some other powersets have been altered a little.
2) Travel from Cap Au Diable
to the Rikti Warzone. You've been hoodwinked into assisting the Heroes of
Vanguard with their minor Rikti world-invasion problem.
3) Collect the Exploration
badges in the zone (if you do this in SG mode, your SG will FINALLY get a new
Beacon!).
4) Find Levantera, and
complete his first story arc. This enables "Vanguard Merits" for
your villain.
5) Now you have some choices.
Either you can:
(a) Continue all the story
arcs in the zone, working for each member of Vanguard.
(b) Forget about the missions
and join a big Pylon team. Take out the Pylons guarding the Rikti Mothership,
and then have a Rikti-murdering party on the ship itself. Set bombs to spawn
the scary Master at Arms, and collect all the Vanguard merits you can from
defeating Rikti!
(c) If you are already level
45+, take a mixed Hero and Villain team into the Lady Grey Strike Force!
(d) Complete repeatable
missions for Borea.
6) Of course eventually you
will want to have completed all the story arcs and the Lady Grey Strike Force.
Remember that each completion of the Strike Force causes a retaliatory
invasion of a zone within the world, so be ready to form a death-squad and
fight in the debt-fre open air against marauding nigh-invincible dropships and
unexploded bombs!
7) There are several
secondary tasks you might want to perform:
(a) Vanguard Merits -
Collecting these from defeated Rikti (10% chance from normal Rikti, 100%
chance from Mothership Rikti) will let you buy kewl rewards such as Vanguard
costume pieces, Temp Powers and even an upgrade to your Salvage Inventory!
Also, you can find here the cure to that crazy Curse power the Vanguard cast
on you!
(b) Badges - While fending
off freeform invasions, kill 100 Rikti, 10 Rikti Assault Suits and 25
unexploded bombs for badges. Do all three to earn the new Elusive Mind badge
and Accolade Power - free Psy/Mezz resistance for you! Also, clicking 25 bombs
on the Mothership and taking out the Master at Arms 10 times gives more
badges.
8) In addition to triggered
zone invasions, it looks like the Rikti will sepnd at least two weeks going
nuts with Heroes and Villains alike whenever they feel like it. We might be
innundated across all zones at once, so watch out and defend our homeland!
9) For bragging rights, see
if you can take down a Rikti Dropship!
10) Finally, check out the
free funky new costume pieces, such as bunny tails, cat whiskers, and some
fashionable ensemble pieces. Enjoy!

HOW MUCH?!
A quick note to the wise - don't buy costume
pieces at the moment.
Issue 10 is changing costume drops. They will
be grouped together in their own "Pool E", with a much higher chance
of being earned from enemy kills. Wait until Issue 10 arrives before spending
millions of wasted cash on wings and boots!

MOUNTANEERING WITH NYLA EVERMIND
This article couldn't be published earlier
due to the Issue 10 closed Beta, which has ended...
Ever wondered why the Devs always call Port
Oakes "graphics intensive"? Or why it seems laggier than other
zones, with the obvious exception of Grandville?
Wonder no more! Visit the SPECIAL NEWS
section to find out some hidden secrets about Port Oakes, that were available
for exploration only by Beta testers!

DOLLMISTRESS ABDUCTED...!
Dollmistress, veteran Faux Pas leader and
ubiquitous Rogue Island Supervillainess Supreme...is missing.
Kidnapped from within her own Cap Au Diable
Headquarters by the Rikti for who knows what sinister purpose...a terrifying
warning left behind for her friends and allies to consider.
Whatever has become of her is a bleak,
sorrowful mystery.
Will she return?
What did she mention about Hero-1 before she
fell silent?
A dark day for the Faux Pas...one of the most
powerful Psychics on the planet and her alternate-reality counterparts have
disappeared suddenly without a trace.
The Rikti are approaching swiftly. Perhaps
their invasion will hold the key to explaining what has transpired this day.

ISSUE 10 - INVASION!

UPDATE
The skies over Paragon City are filled with dark grey thunderheads. It is the same in the Rogue Isles, Europe, and across the globe. Small ships dart through the heavy weather … and there are so very many of them.
The Rikti have returned.
Rikti World Invasion
Issue 10 begins with a World Event that spans across numerous zones in both Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, as the Rikti return in devastating waves. They are armed with new, brutal weapons and seek to establish a beachhead on Earth, presumably to save their lost brethren and to finish what they started the first time … the destruction of Earth!
Rikti War Zone (Levels 35 – 50)
The site of the crashed Rikti mother ship has become a hot War Zone. Pylons of unknown purpose have appeared around the mother ship, and Rikti presence is extremely heavy. In an attempt to contain the Rikti from breaking out of the area or launching their ship, the government has cordoned off the zone, allowing only select agents access. Government officials have turned the region over to Vanguard, and given them the authority to recruit forces from across the world. This zone is open to both Heroes and Villains, in their combined, desperate struggle to hold the front lines against the second Rikti Invasion.
New Threats
Rikti Pylons are multi-purpose warning and attack devices that surround the crashed mother ship. It takes a concerted effort to take one of these pylons down, but once enough of these are destroyed, access to the ship may be granted.
UXBs, “unexploded bombs” that arm, power up, and detonate if not stopped in time, provide a constant threat. Rikti destroyers zip through zones dropping troops, UXB’s, and Rikti Assault Suits.
New Inventions
The Vanguard base contains a special Vanguard Workbench that will allow for special costume pieces (tied to Rikti War Zone recipes). Vanguard Support Machines (“Heavies”) can be requisitioned using Special Salvage (unique to the War Zone). These Heavies function as powerful pets.
New Missions
The first missions in the Rikti War Zone are for characters level 35+. The characters meet a new contact,
Levantera, who introduces them to the U.N. security force, Vanguard. They’ll also meet
Borea, who sends them on several repeatable missions in the zone. From there, characters meet contact Serpent Drummer,
Gaussian, and also talk to the Dark Watcher and learn one of the darkest secrets of Paragon City.
Rikti Co-op Task Force
The Rikti Co-Op Task Force is available for both Heroes and Villains. It is for 6 to 8 players, level 45 – 50. The mission is given out by Lady Grey, leader of the Vanguard. Co-operative missions create a new layer of depth and story as heroes and villains work toward a common goal.
Issue 10 is now in "Closed Beta"
testing on the Test Server. Further details of new stuff will be added here as
it becomes known!

MOVE ALONG...NO PLING TO SEE HERE

A fun weekend all round, with members of the
Faux Pas and coalition allies levelling like crazy to earn XP, Prestige or
plain hard cash!
Nyla Evermind reached level 50, after a hard
race against Sinder Block III to see who would make it first. No signature
characters were noted to have appeared, but this is probably due to the
ongoing testing of Issue 10, which ses the Rikti return to make mischief once
again across the planet!
During the weekend, Dollmistress finally
broke her curse of never receiving costume piece rewards from defeated foes
and found TWO sets of Piston boots AND TWO sets of Bone Wings! Tee hee!
In other news, Sinder BLock has been promoted
to Leader within Faux Pas Elite, to facilitate further development of our
secondary Headquarters!

HEATSEEKERS FOR EVERYBODY!

Yes, it's unbelievable. But it is also true.
Following massive negative feedback from villains over the Statesman's Task
Force awarding Heroes the Heatseeker badge for little effort at all, the first
patch for Issue 9 (released yesterday) included a low-key undocumented fix to
the Arachnos Flyer. Unlike other heralded "fixes"< this update
has indeed corrected the Flyer and it does now spawn every 2-8 hours (usually
every 5 hours) in Grandville.
A fine way to mark the one year anniversary
of Issue 7 and Grandville. Fixing the Flyer means fixing more than just the
Transport, the repairs have fixed Grandville itself - the island now functions
in the way always intended by its creators.
Today, Dollmistress' 10 month quest to avenge
herself against Arachnos Flyer Beta came to an end, when after only two hours
of holding vigil over the Grandville Watchtower launchbay, the Flyer appeared.
Patiently tracking its path throughout the island, two groups of villains were
assembled and made quick work of destroying the Transport vehicle within
moments of it making a final stop on the south east beach.
It has been a great day for villainy!

DOUBLE YOUR MONEY!
Yes, Double XP weekend is back for the third
time, on the 15th-17th of June. Make sure you clear some space on your
calendars to attend and earn twice the normal rate of XP, Infamy and Prestige!
In other news, the Faux Pas ELite base is now
fully raid-capable (for defensive raids). This opens the possibility of
members practices raids between the ELite base and the main Headquarters!

26th May 2007

The Supergroup is still alive and well!
Members of Faux Pas spent much of the week teamed up earning Prestige, and
spent all Thursday night on a full SG-only team working together!
As planned, the Supergroup converged again
today to complete the Crystal Keeper Strike Force and a pair of Respecs. In
the early hours of Sunday morning, a few remaining members polished off two
more Respecs and the LRSF, where Doll finally found a Numina's Convalescence +Regen/+Recovery
recipe!
Well done peeps!

YAY FOR SINDER!
Nine months ago, a diminutive ninja named Lil
Demon joined the Faux Pas with many questions and lots of fun ideas. Today
Demon's main character Sinder Block finally made it to level 50 following
hours of dedicated playing!
Well done Sinder!
Rumours abound that this infamously lucky and
extremely generous "Wing King" will now return to other alts and try
to raise their abilities too, while hoping to complete the LRSF for the first
time!

24th May 2007
Today Dollmistress earned her 45th and final
Invention Origin Enhancement badge! Other villains may now use her to craft
any basic IOs without needing to pay for recipes (thought they will have to
pay Doll herself and hand over the salvage required).
The final and 372nd badge puts Doll back up
to second place on the Champion Server!

NICE TRY!
The Cahmpion Server villain
"community" has begun marshalling troops in efforts to defeat the
newly arrived Hamidon. So far, Rebel Assault Crew has been leading
organisation, bringing villains together on several occasions to make several
attempts at destroying the monster's Mitochondria bodyguards.
No luck so far, but as many wise villains
were explaining at the raids, it will take time and patience before a reliable
raiding system is solidified.

ARACHNOS FLIER DELTA - DENIED!
From Dollmistress:
At 11:22am UK time,
I wandered out of Recluse's Victory, having filled up on Recipes and Salvage.
I flew across Grandville, over the statue. Then I realised what the time was.
The previous night, Ewokspy from badgehunter.com had verified my badges, and
we both briefly mentioned how hunting the Flier for the Heatseeker badge had
turned from frustrating to simple despair.
So I turned back. I checked /whoall, and it turned out I was alone in
Grandville. That meant that possibly, I had just respawned the zone. There was
some remote chance of a Flier spawn, under such quiet conditions.
I flew to Wiggy the Brit, and waited. Time passed. It was 11:25am, then
11:30am. I figured that as usual, nothing was going to happen.
In a final moment of anger, I flew up to the Hanger, and took a good look
inside. Nothing. For a moment I decided that the problem with the Flier might
be that it gets stuck in the Hanger launch bay, so I activated Fly, and
pressed against the red force field to catch a glimpse down the launch hole.
Nothing.
For a joke, I typed out in Local Chat "Well what, are you gonna make me
wait ANOTHER none months?"
The Flier immediately appeared.
I didn't know what to do. As it exited the Hanger, I actually flew inside from
the force of my momentum, and became trapped on the wrong side of the force
field. I watched the Flier depart, heading east as usual, and panicked.
It was time to do something. I spammed Coalition, Help, Arena, Broadcast, and
all the Global channels with something like "FLIEERRRRRRR". Then I
remembered to type /stuck, and released myself from the Hanger to give chase.
I was lucky. The Flier (Arachnos Flier Delta) had landed in the eastern
courtyard. Thanks to Issue 9, a tiny few of the servers most powerful villains
were still online completing sales at the BMT, and within a few minutes (by
the time of the second landing) I almost had a full team and we were all in
hot pursuit.
But the Flier hits pretty hard, and killed a few of us as we engaged it in
bits and pieces. It headed west from the courtyard to the north west Gutter,
then stopped again in the north where we gave it a good pounding before it
took off again with shields up. In the north, we actually hurt it.
Then it stopped in the north east, just inside the city walls. It was already
well into daylight, and I thought for sure that it was going to simply vanish
at any moment. I didn't have very high hopes for defeating it, despite this
being my first opportunity since last August.
In the east, we dropped it to 3/4 HP before it took off. I knew for certain
that it would only stop once more on the beach, if it was even going to stop
at all. By this time there was a chatter of confusion on broadcast, with
people slowly appearing to help out for their Heatseeker badge but not knowing
where to go or what to do.
The Flier landed on the south east beach, the final stop for Delta. I called
out that it was now, or never. The few of us around brought absolutely
everything we had right down on top if it as a final, desperate effort to kill
it.
For a moment, I actually thought we might win. I summoned my Shivan, Snowman,
Mini-Blaster, temp power pets and even threw my only rock at it, trying to
take it out. The other villains were fantastic, wiping out scores of Bane
Spider bosses in seconds and buffing us while debuffing the Flier with all the
powers they could muster.
But, in the end, it simply wasn't enough. Without multiple -Fly, we managed to
drop Delta to around 35% HP (and falling fast) before it took off for its
departure flight, heading east.
Far faster than any of us, it climbed extremely high into the air, where only
a few could follow.
I chased that thing straight into the sky with SB and multiple buffs, spamming
all the attacks and holds I had trying to knock it back to the ground. Even
with Domination, Force of Nature, Megalomaniac, nine yellows and the drive of
nine months worth of fruitless hunting behind me, I just could not catch it in
time.
At maximum altitude, at the eastern border of the zone, it vanished.
I've had a chance to correct the mistake I made last August, when slow zoning
into Grandville denied me Heatseeker by all of 3 or 4 seconds. After such a
long time, after so much pointless searching, I failed again.
I'll return to watching the skies, and hoping that the Devs feel some sort of
mercy about this GM that has been handed on a plate to the Heroes while
Villains live an die over hearing so much as the slightest clue that it might
just maybe have spawned somwhere, sometime recently, within Grandville.
With all the excitement, I didn't really have a chance to take pictures while
attacking the Flier. All I got was this:
http://www.the-faux-pas.org.uk/fliertoday1.jpg
and a final shot (my new desktop wallpaper) of a heavily debuffed Flier
retreating while I pursue, incandescent, willing the thing to die with my very
mind:
http://www.the-faux-pas.org.uk/fliertoday2.jpg
The Flier does exist, and still spawns. Sometimes. It doesn't require Bane
Spider or Arachnoid deaths. All it requires is an ironically quiet server, and
luck.
I'll catch it one day. But sadly, not today.

Statesman taking a Beating!
Members of Faux Pas and VORI teamed up with
the Blackguards to a week or non-stop Strike Force adventures, completing the
LRSF over 9 times and other SFs on multiple occasions in the pursuit of new
rare invention system Recipes!
By the end of the week, just about everyone
was either very rich, very much more powerful or very much flying with many
new sets of inventions wings!
On a side note - Dollmistress II's faithful
Bad Wobot has been promoted for miraculously surviving a double team wipe
(pictured below).

ENHANCING!
Dollmistress squanders over 45 million to
become the first villainous Field Crafter on Champion, achieving the new
Accolade power only a few hours before Dark Web Chambers also grabbed the
award!
Officially verified with www.badgehunter.com
(thanks to Ewokspy!) with 362 badges, Doll held a top 5 of all time badge
collector ranking before other hunters caught up and knocked her back to 9th
place. The other badge hunters are
slacking!
VIllains farming RV can now make occasional
use of Doll's portable invention worktable facilities to use up Recipes and
Salvage without needing to exit RV!

1st May 2007 ISSUE
9 - BREAKTHROUGH!
Yes, it's finally here. Pfft to the doubting
cynics! Issue 9 has arrived and features a HUGE upgrade in content, ranging
from the New Hamidon and Monster Island to Inventions and Auctioneering!
As a brief guide for those pool souls who
have logged on the updated game and are looking around wondering "O.O",
here are a few start tips:
-
Visit Cap Au Diable, enter the
University near the SG Base Portal, and try out the Inventions Tutorial!
-
Villains can now earn, carry
around and use Recipes and Invetions Salvage. The inventory for both these
is limited, but everyone can store some salvage in the big vault inside the
Workshop of the Faus Pas Headquarters. For example, a level 50 Villain can
carry 20 Recipes and 50 Salvage, and also store 50 more Salvage in the
Vault. Only YOU can access YOUR Vault items, so don't worry.
-
Invention Salvage drops from
any defeated enemy that offers you XP. THe chance is roughly 8-12%,
depending on whether the enemy is a minion, lieut or boss, etc. The
"Info" tab of all enemies has been updated to show what they drop.
-
Recipes are divided into 4
"Pools". Pool A is for defeating enemies. Pool B is for completing
missions - there is a 10% chance you will get a Poll B Recipe when you beat
a mish. Pool C is for Trials - the Respecs, basically. Pool D is for Strike
Force stories. Pool A includes all the basic Recipes and the Costume
Recipes, the other three Pools are basically rare stuff that you will need
to collect if you want to find complete "sets" of the new
Enhancements.
-
Recipes can be for costume
pieces (boots and wings), Temp Powers, or Invention Origin Enhancements. The
basic "IOs" are just improved SOs. There are also rarer "Set
Enhancements" - IOs that can be slotted into specific types of powers,
and if you collect and slot more than one IO from the same set into the same
power, you start to get cool extra bonuses!
-
To turn Recipes into real
items, visit an Invention Worktable, and use the Recipe plus the required
Salvage to craft it.
-
Basic Recipes can also be
purchased from the Invention Worktables, at a high price.
-
There are now also "Blue
Optimus" Black Market trucks in Mercy, Cap, Shark and St. Martial.
Villains from all servers can compete here to buy and sell anything at all.
Basically all you need to do is find something you want, check if it is
being sold, then bid what you are willing to pay. If your price meets the
price of any copies being sold, you will get your item immediately. If it
doesn't meet the price, then your bid will become a "Buy Order"
and the next time someone sells the item at your price, you will win it if
you are the highest bidder.
-
Selling stuff is also easy -
just drag and drop your item into your "transaction slots" at the
bottom of the Black Market Truck window, set a price, and post the item. You
can post stacks of Recipes and Salvage (up to 10 of each). Be careful when
posting stuff for high prices - listing an item costs you a little bit of
money each time!
-
Each Villain has a limited
number of transaction slots for buying and selling. The game remembers what
you are looking for and selling even when you are offline, so you can buy
and sell at any time! When you sell or buy things, the game will notify you
in your chat window :)
Have
fun, and remember there are lots of new badges for inventing and selling
items!
Issue
9 also has some really kewl new emotes:
Emote
Binoculars
Emote
Camera
Emote
Cellphone

And
some can be used while moving:

Finally,
if you are brave and strong enough then go to Monster Island or The Abyss

PARTY ON, CITY OF!
The Test Server Pocket D was rocked tonight
by a special three year anniversary party! Badges celebrating the third
birthday of City of Heroes will be awarded shortly but for now, Positron,
Statesman, Ghost Widow, Lord Relcuse, War Witch and others had a fun time
handing out custom badge titles, running the now infamous Maze of Doom and
offering skiing lessons to those foolish enough to follow them down the
Holiday Resort slopes.
Issue 9 is imminent!

BADGES BADGE BADGES

After a week of harrowing victimisation at
the hands of Twixt and other anti-Heroes, Dollmistress earns her 300th badge -
Back From the Future, for capturing almost 900 Recluse's Victory Pillboxes in
just under a week.

ISSUE 9 - FLIER FIXED?

The Flier has made several new appearances on
the Test Server following the latest Isue 9 patch. Hopes are high that it
might finally make its way over to the Live Servers, but Lord Recluse assures
Bane Spider pilots everywhere that this is all Freedom Phalanx propaganda and
highly unlikely.
Sadly, Arachnos seems to has deployed all its
Flier units to defend the Tangle, resisting attacks from Paragon's finest as
part of the Statesman's Task Force. Whether the Heroes leave any alive for us
to play with is yet to be seen...

12th April 2007
HISTORIC VICTORY!

Members of Faux Pas joined dozens of other
villains on the Test Server today to launch the first successful attack on the
monstrous Devouring Earth abomination, Hamidon!
It took five hours and the lives of many many
Mastermind pets, but finally all waves of Mitos were extinguished and Hamidon
was defeated for the first time in City of Villains history. The raid was led
by Human_Being, a member of the Faux Pas "Weirdo Storage Inc."
Supergroup based on the Test Server. Dollmistress III acted as lead support
Corruptor, buffing and healing the dedicated Melee teams who bravely charged
into the mouth of hell to tear apart Hami's bodyguards as the first wave of
attack.
Well done all!
|
|
10th April 2007
FAUX PAS NEEDS YOU!
For healing. Lots of healing.
We are getting very close to earning our
third and final Supergroup Healing Badge, basically the final badge we ever
need to collect. If anyone in the Supergroup has a healer, please use them
whenever possible and build up healing points for us.
If we get the badge before Issue 9 arrives,
it will allow us to free up space inside the Inspiration Collectors for the
new Hami Inspirations.
|
|
10th April 2007
MONSTER ISLAND!

With demand ultra-high for the new "Hambrosia"
Essence of the Earth Inspirations (60 sec invincibility against Hami damage!)
War Witch has kindly loaned Lord Recluse a top secret submarine for
infiltrating the war-torn Monster Island within Paragon City!
Villains can hitch a ride on the submarine
from just north of the Fab in Grandville. Inside you will discover Devouring
Earth Monsters, and Rikti Monkeys! No more farming endlessly for the Zookeeper
badge!

9th April 2007
IMPORTANT INFO
Yes, it is true that when Issue 9 arrives,
the crafting badges will be awarded for ALL acts of crafting, not just
crafting Invention Enhancements. This will include converting raw base salvage
to refined base salvage.
Some guidelines for Supergroup Members:
Your salvage belongs to you, so we have no
problem with you using the base worktables to convert your own collected
salvage into refined salvage for working towards the new badges. However,
please do not:
1 -
Craft base details and place them in the base
2 -
Craft buffs at the Empowerment Stations unless you are using your own
collected stuff (they are a waste)
3 -
Take raw salvage from the stores and use it to create refined salvage.
If you are a serious badge hunter and are
looking to get the crafting badges, then speak to Doll or Doc after Issue 9
arrives and we will see about handing you lots of raw stuff to convert :)
Crafting tables will obviously be set up in
the base asap, along with the weird salvage lockers.
If you do convert any raw base salvage into
refined components, then please consider dropping the finished pieces int the
base racks for safekeeping.

PARTIES AND CEREMONIES
Ghost Widow, Ex Libirs, Positron and other
special guests attended both the St. Patrick's Day celebrations and the
closing ceremonies of the third Champion Server Olympics. Many new villains
had a blast chatting with some of the architects of the Rogue Islands, while
others tried to find favour with the most infamous signature evil doers!
Ghost Widow has been spotted recently
sporting a new red costume, replacing her old black/purple attire. Has she
finally overthrown the Red Widow, or did she simply kill a hero recently in a
particularly messy manner?

SPORTSMANSHIP IN THE ROGUE ISLES!
The third annual Champion Server Super
Olympics began with a ceremonial passing of the torch, honoured by hero and
villain alike. Doll III ran her lap on behalf of the Faux Pas from Sharkhead
to Nerva, handing off to Demoniker, leader of the Blackguards.
The Olympic events continue to run for the
next 4 weeks.

In other news, the Arachnos Flier continues
to elude all hunters within Grandville, and there remains no sign of
Inventions on the Test server (yet!). Plans are afoot between Fuax Pas leaders
and the recruited bosses of L.O.S.T. to build a special high-security storage
facilitiy for protecting member's inventions and recipes - stay tuned for more
developments once Issue 9 has been fully tested!

TESTING THE SKIES
Yesterday, Dollmistress discovered the
Arachnos Flier on the newly patched Test Server. You can read the full report HERE
Later that same night, a
secret contact in the Arachnos underworld rewarded Faux Pas for Dollmistress'
efforts, supplying us with an early prototype of the Flier, for display in the
Headquarters.
A satisfying conclusion. Now
all that is required is for this crazy jet-black sky jockey to actually appear
on the Live servers for a well-deserved beating!

RECLUSE's FAILURE
Dollmistress X has ended her 5 day long

CAN IT BE TRUE?
Dollmistress has been spotted flying in
circles around the outskirts of Grandville.
This can mean only one thing...the Arachnos
Flier has ben sighted!
Apparently, news is pouring in form the Test
Server that the newest game patch has once again "repaired" this
crazy Helicoptor. Lord Recluse refused to comment on the issue, and a
spokesperson for the Union of Bane Spider Executioners was quoted to respond
with "I will believe it when I see it".
KEEP WATCHING THE SKIES!

TEAMSPEAK?

Flash Firestone, elder Statesman of L.O.S.T.
has brought yet another gift over to Faux Pas - a voicechat server account,
which he is paying for.
Members of Faux Pas with a microphone and
headset to spare can download the client software at www.teamspeak.org
and join the other verbal gerbils already online.
Login details are VS1. OSG.CC :8894 (password

ROBOTS OUT OF DISGUISE...
"OP1357" (aka. Optimus Prime) seems
unhappy with Arachnos for their blatant copyright infringement, enslaving a
legion of his clones to serve the Rouge Isles as Black Market Trucks.
He was spotted protesting in Grandville last
night, but was barred from meeting Lord Recluse in person.
Auctioneers, transform and roll out!

News concerning Inventions, particularly the
idea that Story Arcs will reward special rewards unavaiable anywhere else, is

HERE WE GO AGAIN...

Exactly one year ago, this loony floating
Max-Headroom wannabe turned up simultaneously in Paragon City and the Rogue
Islands, inviting both Hroes and Villains to his new interdimensional
nightclub which frankly, doesn't seem to exist ANYWHERE!
Much faun was had, even before this "DJ
Zero" nutjob installed a fully operational monkey arena and ski lodge in
the new, mind-boggling locale. Heroes teamed with villains, Snaptooth got a
kicking, and rewards were passed out to all the lucky paritcipants.
NOW YOU GOTTA DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!
This year, your shopping list is:
1. Find Scratch. He is a contact. He will
give you a two-mission story arc. To complete the second mish, a Hero must
help you (eww!).
2. Tag along with a Hero on their two-mission
arc, and help them grab a Girdle. You'll now receive a badge and a Temp power
and unlock DJ Zro as a contact.
3. Work for DJ Zero and pwn Snaptooth.
Remember that taking him down 5 times will award you a badge, and so will
beating up 333 of his Red Cap followers.
4. Each time you complete DJ Zero's mish, you
can choose a reward. There are 5 to collect - both badges, and costumes!

TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES

Dollmistress' poor abused Graphics Card died
today, at 8pm UK time.He will be missed. For future reference - dropping a
large heavy object on to an exposed Graphics Card circuit board WILL cause
irrepairable damage (doh!)
Fortunately, Dollmistress was sufficiently
obsessive to immediately buy a new card, and was back collecting Valentines
Day rewards within 24 hours. Woo hoo!

SUPERIOR TECH!
Thanks to lots of dedicated members and the
new Base Upkeep changes, Faux Pas have gradually been accumulating an excess
of funds which is now being put to use by Dollmistress III to show off some of
the more rare and unique Supergroup loot available to high-society villains!
She even sacrificed a Rikti Datapad, to
construct a super-neat Rikti Advanced Terminal, for all our defensive and
teleportery needs!

Above: Mega Monitor Below: Advanced Terminal

Now if only the Devs would fix the Fusion
Generator!
A CHILD?
In other news, Dr. Evermind and Nyla (former
co-leader of the Faux Pas) were perplexed today by the arrival of "Nyla
Evermind", who claims to be their daughter!

L.O.S.T. AND FOUND!
The mind-control probes secreted within
L.O.S.T. HQ have finally taken their toll on the leaders of this weary
villainous Supergroup (tee hee). As of this weekend, the active core and
leadership of L.O.S.T. will be transferring over to join Faux Pas and Faux Pas
Elite, bringing with them a lot of very useful slavage and enhancements, in
addition to a whole lot of kewl skill, experience and generally welcome fun!
Shinobi's Mist and Flash Firestone have been
friends of Faux Pas leaders for a long time. Shinobi was the only person who
proved as bloody-minded as Dollmistress, on the infamous day of the "Arachnos
Flier Hunt to end all Arachnos Flier Hunts".
Everyone be nice ot these new kewl peeps, and
they might even invite you on one of their LRSF adventures!

LORD STRYKER IS NICE?!

Looks like the Heroes of Paragon City have
finally stopped fighting over Hamidon and started cooperating again during
Raids to nab their precious little Hami-Os. Be warned, villains!
Stryke Force in particular, no longer seem to
be griefing Raids or being generally weirdo-shaped anymore. This has proven a
big help to Faux Pas' new heroic Supergroup (Haven), which is growing and
actively helping out both new Heroes and disguised villains from Faux Pas!

OFFICAL ISSUE 9 STATEMENT
The official CoX Forums have been buzzing
like mad about Issue 9. A specially dedicated Forum Moderator (some kinda mad
scientist guy) has been trying to answer player questions, and Positron
himself has recently been interviewed on what can be expected in the upcoming
expansion!
New key points include:
Invention Enhancements come
in two types - standard common versions and special "set" versions.
Standard types work just like Training/DO/SOs, except you cannot outlevel
them, and they are a little bit more effective. THese IOs can be built at
University/Supergroup Invention Worktables.
The "set" IOs are different.
Basically - There are IOs that are very rare, and require specific, personal
Recipes to create (as well as Invention salvage). There are many different
"sets", and each of these has a certain number of specific IOs in
it. If you collect and create some, or all the IOs form a specific set and
slot them into the right type of power, then your entire character will
receive a bonus.
Confused? Well - imagine IOs are pieces of
armour. This would mean "set" IOs are special suit of armour, like
for example: "mythril armour". To properly get the bonus for this
armour, you need to collect recipes and salvage ot build the helmet,
gauntlets, chestplate, etc...until you have it all.
Special Invention stuff will
drop from defeated enemies (one drop per boss/EB/AV), missions, Stories, SFs
and Respecs. This is a huge matter of debate at the moment, cos a lot of peeps
are angry about rare stuff being tied up with specific mission arcs, or only
one member of a team getting the best "loot".
Costume/Temp Power Inventions
have now been confirmed.
ROBOTIC WINGS AND BONE WINGS are among the Costume recipes! Yay!
The Hamidon Raid is
going to become a "Trial" (kinda like a big one-mission SF). It will
become avaialble to villains, since Hami seems to have "broken
through" to The Abyss...a dark villainous realm yet to be explored...
The trading limit on
Infamy is going to be raised! This might encourage "gold farming" in
CoX, but it will also make money a LOT easier to transfer!

ELITISM!
Faux Pas Elite continue to gain Prestige and
new members (both from Faux Pas and newbies form Mercy).
The Faux Pas Elite base is now in its
advanced stages - we have teleporters installed ot all zones, and
Inspiration/Salvage Stores just begging to be used!
Any member of Faux Pas or Faux Pas Elite is
entitled to question whether they should be in the branch they have been
assigned, and new players especially should be moved over to Faux Pas whenever
space is avaialble. Speak to Doll or Doc to get yourself moved around.
Remember - you can use Coalition chat to speak to members of the branch you
aren't in, so don't worry about teams and socialising!
Faux Pas Elite, should be reserved for peeps
with a lot of alts, or for older high level mains who need a home to rest and
recover from their wounds :D

NAUGHTIES!
Project MANDA and Dollmistress of the Faux
Pas went on a little "adventure" to collect their Inventor badges
and Invention Origin Enhancements!
We could tell you how, but we would have to
kill you!

It was a fun prank. No MANDAs or Dolls were
harmed during the creation of any Inventions.

ISSUE 9 LATEST
Hot from spies buried deep within the buggy
netherregions of Paragon City - here is a nice preview to what you will need
ot get involved in once Issue 9 hits the Live Servers!
Sadly, the nice people of Vidiotmaps.com seem
to favour Heroes and their wacky ways, rather than explore the villainous side
of life. We've yet to see any true images form the inside of the Cap Au Diable
University, but no doubt some ingenius evildoer will find a way soon. Enjoy!

For reference to everybody, and
for fleshing out as information arrives:
1) Locate and complete the new Hamidon Encounter Raid (V&H)
2) Pick up any related Exploration badges located with the new Hamidon, and
any badge(s) for the raid itself. (V&H)
3) Complete the Statesman SF, collecting any badges rewarded (H).
4) Salvage - SG Leaders:
(a) It has been suggested that old base salvage (perhaps refined or unrefined)
can be converted to Invention Salvage at a loss. This might mean the same kind
of "loss" as converting Infamy to Prestige, but may not be. PROTECT
your salvage, and be fair to dedicated SG members who might want some of their
stuff back for inventing.
(b) Bases will need Worktables - possibly all 6 types. Make sure your base is
ready.
5) Salvage - all:
(a) Salvage trays will change. It is possible they will become limited in
size, perhaps smaller than they are now. Be warned and ready.
(b) Recipe trays will add to your inventory.
(c) Completing additional missions for Invention contacts will increase the
size of your Salvage/Recipe trays. Get these done!
(d) Time to start collecting! Get all the Invention salvage you can muster!
Sort it by rarity! Find where the uber loot can be gathered (LRSF anyone? New
Hammi? New Moon zone? Specific missions?)
6) Enhancements: A primary result of inventing. These offer SO-type bonuses,
but must also be grouped in correct "sets" for maximum effect. Time
to replace those SOs and rethink your builds! Get those Respecs ready!
7) Other Inventions:
(a) Costumes (get these done or yo will feel small and sad)
(b) Badges (for Inventing, Invention missions, Invention story arcs,
University Exploring, etc - Grab these!)
(c) Temp Powers (probably a low priority)
(d) Base Items (something to think about)
8) Consignment Houses: Unless a new currency magically appears in CoX, you are
going to NEED some of this to complete your recipe and salvage collections.
Inventions are personal to each character. What sort of an economy results
from the Consignment Houses depends on US. There WILL be players attempting to
set huge prices on the "kewl loot" they have farmed for hours and
hours. There will be attempts to fleece old billionaire players for all they
are worth. Just remember - it doesn't HAVE to be that way. We can work
together to maintain fair trading/sales. We don't even need to use the Houses
if we don't want to (apparently). We can combine efforts at farming the
invention salvage, prioritise individual needs and cooperate to satisfy our
wants.
Obviously, every addicted nutjob-type player will want EVERYTHING IMMEDIATELY.
Just remember, that this time that sort of thinking might not be helpful, and
getting everything might not even be possible.

TWICE THE MADNESS
It was fun while it lasted, and now it's time
for the sad, inevitable withdrawal. No more double XP.
Members of the Faux Pas earned over 900K
Prestige during the weekend, which was pretty good considering some key
members were using the opportunity to level up Heroes or farm Infamy in
preparation for Issue 9. Well done peeps, and yay for the new masses of 50s!

HEROIC SUPERGROUP NO MORE!
Following her slip back into evildoing,
Dollmistress AKA Jadegirl has acquired a fully functioning Heroside Supergroup
named "Haven" and is currently working on twisting its former
virtuous Headquarters to her own nefarious desires!
Any member of Faux Pas or friend, associate,
etc who either already plays Hero characters or is curious to try out City of
Heroes is welcome ot sign up to this Supergroup and help build it up into a
legend in its own right!
This might prove useful when Issue 9 arrives,
for selling/trading/general Heroside presence purposes.

HERO OR NUTJOB?
Celine "Jadegirl" Orken, former
Heroine of Paragon City, now seems ot have caught up with herself. Spotted
over the past few months in dimensionally "fuzzy" locations such as
Pocket D and Recluse's Victory, Celine now seems to have evolved back to her
future villainous self and has begun recruiting unwitting Heroes of Paragon
City into her own personal bad of undercover operatives.
You aren't the only one who is confused. An
elderly, Kheldian-enhanced instantiation of Dollmistress has even been seen
floating across the skies of Peregrine Island, searching to redeem hr former
self for the good of mankind. These weirdos must be treated with extreme
caution, they are not the REAL Dollmistress!

THE MAZE OF DEATH!
Over the past yar, Dollmistress III has
pretty much brought to life every possible concept that can be realised within
a Supergroup Headquarters.
Or so she thought, until someone suggested
constructing a maze!
The monstrous mini-game, dubbed the
"Maze of Death", or "Maze of not-quite-death but-at-least
moderate-frustration" has been played thorugh by member of the Faux Pas,
Coalition allies, and unsuspecting lowbies of Mercy Island (tee hee!).
Doll III appears to enjoy racing villains
against each other, and offers prizes to those crazy enough to enter a room
she can edit and alter at will WHILE they are still inside it!

Issue 9 Update
The first pictures of the interior of the CoX
Universities, Auction Houses and "Black Market Trucks" (AKA Optimus
Primes) have been leaked by the Paragon City Times!
Rumours abound regarding why the leader of
the Autobots has decided to pursue a career in supplying cheap loot to Rogue
Island villains, and Statesman is leading the Freedom Phalanx on a full scale
investigation.
The Issue 9 update, due sometime this Spring,
will definitely feature the ability to collect invention salvage and recipes
for creating at least new super-enhancements. Whether costume pieces and
powers are also on the recipes lists, only time will tell.

GIMMEH XP!
The 26th-28th January will see the return of
DOUBLE XP WEEKEND! Supergroup members are encouraged to use SG Mode and earn
masses of Prestige either with new upcoming alts or farming on their good old
fashioned mains!
Leaders of the Faux Pas will definitely be
around (duh) to collect Prestige and XP at extremely alarming rates.
Hopefully, the event will extend into the early hours of Monday, and if we are
very lucky the Arachnos Flier will make an appearance either upon the arrival
or departure of the doubled-xp conditions.
Remember folks, last time Ghost Widow visited
the server and teamed with members of the Faux Pas on the final day of the
madness! Keep an eye out for villainous celebrities!

MOST WANTED
Dead or Alive! (preferably dead)
Reward: KUDOS!
Tee hee. Just an excuse to post a picture of
Twixt on the news page. IF you don't know who "Twixt" is, then you
are either not form the Champion Server, or not level 40 yet. Gotta love him
for being simply the most annoying and incredibly obnoxious Hero in a PvP zone
near you!
Many dolls died to bring us this
information...
Quick Guide to Avioding "Twixt
Debt":
-
Twixt's Modus Operandi is to
find an unsuspecting victim and fly above them, well out of sight.
-
Once he has taken stock of
your position, he will locate the closest group of NPCs hostile to his
victim (i.e. Longbow).
-
Twixt will then
proceed to Teleport Foe his victim into the mob, and then immediately cast
Terrify, attempting to hold his prey.
-
If the victim does not
possess a Break Free, then may very well be defeated by the NPCs, incurring
double debt :(
-
If the initial attack does
not defeat his prey, Twixt will begin to launch flurries of melee attacks
and his patented "eye-beams of annoyance". He also favours Air
Superiority, and will attempt to score hits while whizzing back and forth
past a flying or superjumping enemy.
-
On some occasions, he will
also be packing a Heavy, to save him from tough encounters.
The best defence against Twixt
is to avoid him. He has no qualms about teleporting a victim into a Police Drone
or hostile pillbox, and his AIM is to give you debt.
Twixt is not particularly tough,
and has been killed many times by various villains. His perception and DPS are
not particularly high - his most potent weapons are (a) persistance and (b)
Teleport. Twixt is incredibly hard to pin down, and will teleport away
immediately if he senses he is in any danger whatsoever of losing a PvP
encounter. He will then return, fully stocked with new ways to kill people.
BE WARNED!

GENEROSITY!
Famed evildoer Ms.Ambrose has made a
significant donation to the Faux Pas, as part of her crazy Port Oakes and
Mercy Island Infamy giveaways in preparation for her departure from the Rogue
Islands.
The cash will remains in safekeeping for now,
reserved for future contribution towards anything the Faux Pas might need when
the Inventions and Auctions systems arrive.

NUMBER 5 IS ALIVE!
The fugitive Emperor Rut Ro, former Assault
Bot to Dollmistress II, continues to remain at large within the Rogue Islands.
Last seen when arrested by Freedom Corps (below Paragon City Police footage
was taken just prior to his escape), the rampaging Bot seems determined to
become a villain in his own right, protesting against the prejudice Arachnos
ranking systems which prevent Mastermind Pets from achieving recognised threat
levels!

LOOKING TOWARDS THE FUTURE
The new year begins with a great day for the
Faux Pas. Thanks to the tireless hard work of our members we finally have
accumulated enough Prestige to purchase a Secure Plot for the Headquarters,
meaning that when the CoP Trial returns to the Live Servers we will be free to
collect as many Items of Power as we can afford/fit, instead of the single IoP
allowed in Unsecure Plots!
The new Plot will also allow placement of
multiple Energy Generators and Control Computers, essentially offering us
limitless growth potential for a long time to come!
Of course, placing our new Plot required the
almost total demolition of the Faux Pas base. All essential functions are
however operating, and anyone who wishes to be involved in building the new
base is free to offer ideas and suggestions about room concepts, colours,
lighting, details, or anything else you can come up with.
UPCOMING DEVELOPMENTS
By now most villains should be aware that
sometime in the next couple of months, CoX will be expanded to include both an
Inventions and Auctions system.
These new additions will probably appear
before Issue 9, which should arrive by March (if not sooner) and introduce a
new ongoing storyline for both Heroes and Villains, who may in fact need to
combine forces in order to thwart a returning foe.
The Inventions system will be based within
the Cap Au Diable University and allow villains to collect Invention Salvage
and Recipes to construct special Invention Origin Enhancements (IOs - which
will apparently slot into Power Sets instead of specific Powers) and even new
costume pieces (such as wings!)
The Auctions system will be based in the
"The Black Market", which will open in multiple zones across the
Rogue Islands. VIllains will be able to buy and sell items related to the
Inventions System, and just about anything else you can think of.
According to recent news, there will be
badges related to both new systems.
Finally, a few eagle-eyed villains have
noticed that construction has begun in Port Oakes, just south of the Arena,
linking the south-western pier directly with the Port Oakes/Cap Au Diable
Ferry. Rumours and whispers have suggested that this new feature will develop
into nothing less than a Rocket or Shuttle launch pad, connecting Port Oakes
to a space-bound zone.
Lord Relcuse refused to comment on the
construction, although he seemed adamant that it must go ahead on schedule to
combat a great threat to Arachnos.
When asked about recent seismic disturbances
on the Moon and whether the shuttle/rocket is planned to travel there, Lord
Recluse walked out of his Press Conference, mumbling something about
"...the stupid Fifth Column...".
